Police launch crack down on burglaries

RESIDENTS are being warned to secure their homes after a spate of suspicious incidents.

Car keys and a wallet were taken during one burglary in Armthorpe whilst the family were at home and at least three other residents reported seeing someone try their door on the same night in the village.

Police say they will continue to conduct enquiries and patrols following the incidents on October 18.

Inspector Amanda Hunter said: “Burglaries in homes across Doncaster remains a priority for the police. Directed patrols are conducted throughout the day and into the evening across areas where we have seen an increase in burglaries.

“We have received one report of a burglary at an address in Armthorpe last week and we will continue to conduct enquiries and patrols in this area.”

Police are advising residents to keep keys and valuables out of sight from windows and ensure doors and windows are not left open even when in the garden.

Inspector Hunter added: “I would also urge the public to report any suspicious behaviour, such as people looking around houses or going up and down drive ways, or any suspicious vehicles they may see in their area to the police immediately. We will always act on information we receive.” To report an incident contact 01142 202020.
