Police investigation into rape of woman near Doncaster church ongoing

A police investigation is ongoing after a woman was reportedly raped near a Doncaster church.

Enquiries are ongoing to locate two men who followed a woman along Central Boulevard in Wheatley Hills before raping her near St Aidan’s Church.

Unconfirmed reports say the attack on April 10 took place within the churchyard.

In a statement, South Yorkshire Police said: “A cordon is in place in Central Boulevard, Doncaster as officers investigate reports that a woman was raped in the area on Saturday, April 10.

“It’s alleged that two men followed the woman along Central Boulevard early on Saturday evening, before raping her.“

Eyewitnesses reported seeing a police cordon around part of the church yard while it is understood officers are also checking CCTV from the nearby Tesco Express store.

An investigation is now underway and detectives are urging anyone who saw anything suspicious to report this through 101.

The incident number is 456 of April 15.
