Nearly 500 cannabis plants seized and man arrested after Doncaster police raid on residential street

We carried out a drugs warrant at a house on Balfour Road, on Tuesday April 13, and found a large drugs set-up where there were 480 of the plants being cultivated.

Almost every room in the property was packed with the plants. A man was arrested at the scene and charged with cannabis production.

They were not the only drugs set-ups found in the last month.

A raid in Edlington discovered 35 cannabis plants being grown at a house on Princes Crescent, on April 8, with a man arrested. And eight plants were found at a house at The Paddock, Adwick, in an unrelated search on March 12.

There were also two drug raids in Conisbrough on March 26 – one on Sheldon Avenue, where a woman was cautioned for cannabis possession, and one on Cedric Avenue, where a man was arrested for the same offence.

We have also seen drugs found after people were stopped and searched.

In Bentley, a man was cautioned for possession of cannabis after a stop and search of a vehicle on The Avenue on April 7, and another man was given a warning over possession of cannabis on March 31 after another car was stopped and searched, on Bentley Road.

In Mexborough, a man was arrested for possession of class A drugs on Garden Street on April 8, and a man was warned for cannabis possession on Hewitt Street on March 25.

Stop and searches saw people found in possession of cannabis in Conisbrough on Hill Top Road on March 24; on Chestnut Avenue, Carcroft, on March 23.

And another stop and search, carried out on Hickleton Street, Conisbrough, on March 29, saw a man arrested after he was found with an extendable baton and a hunting knife. He was charged with possession of an offensive weapon, and possession of a bladed article.

Finally, a stop and search in Sprotbrough found a boy aged 15 in possession of cannabis on March 31. He had no previous offences and will be dealt with through community resolution, involving appropriate agencies to help with things such as education.
