Murder accused kissed with new woman

Trial: Andrew Lindo.
Trial: Andrew Lindo.

A WOMAN told a jury she spent the night cuddling with a South Yorkshire music teacher just hours after he is alleged to have murdered his partner and left her body in a suitcase in the garage.

Angela Rylance told Bradford Crown Court she started a relationship with Andrew Lindo, 29, who told her the mother of his two young children – Marie Stewart – had left him and was ‘mental’.

Lindo, who worked at the Take 2 Centre in Birdwell, Barnsley, admits manslaughter but denies murdering Miss Stewart. He told police he strangled, battered and stabbed her before storing her body in a bag in his garage.

Ms Rylance said Lindo picked her up in Barnsley with his young son and daughter in the car and they drove back to his house in Holmfirth.

She said she began a relationship with Lindo after he met her in a money shop in Barnsley where she worked as a cashier in August last year.

But Ms Rylance said she became suspicious about his claim to be a single dad when she accessed Miss Stewart’s Facebook profile. Lindo insisted they had split up.

The court has heard Miss Stewart’s body remained in the garage at Perservance Place until it was found by police on February 13 this year.

The trial continues.
