COMPLAINTS from the public about drug abuse in the Beckett Road area of Wheatley brought swift action.
Acting on tip-offs, officers from the Urban Safer Neighbourhood Teams executed two drug warrants at addresses in the Wheatley area.
The first raid was carried out at an address on Beckett Road where police recovered 289 cannabis plants from the property with a street value of approximately £100,000.
A 24-year-old man was arrested and charged with the production of cannabis. He appeared at Doncaster Magistrates’ Court where he was remanded in custody to appear at the Crown Court next month.
The second warrant was executed at a property on Stanhope Road where a small amount of the drug MCAT – also known as miaow miaow – was recovered. A 19-year-old woman received a caution.
PC Steve Roberts said: “We welcome information from the public and will always listen to their concerns. These warrants have enabled us to ensure residents feel safer.”
