Two guns have been found in Rotherham in an operation to stop the supply of drugs.

South Yorkshire Police said officers found the firearms in an ‘outdoor location’ in Eastwood.

A forensic examination of the weapons is now underway.

Tests will identify users of the guns if prints or DNA profiles found match any on police databases.

Detective Sergeant Denis Plaistow said: “The recovery of these two weapons is a great result for us. Every weapon we remove from the streets is one less that can end up in potential criminal circulation.

“I would encourage anyone who may have any information regarding suspected criminal activity in their local community to please contact the police.”
