Girl’s pet dog attacked by pack of ‘Japanese Akitas’ in Conisbrough

A schoolgirl’s pet dog needed emergency treatment after it was attacked by a pack of dogs in Conisbrough.

The 15-year-old was walking her brown ten-year-old Collie in fields near Sheffield Road when it was attacked by six “Akita-type” dogs.

A police spokeswoman said: “Those dogs were being walked by a thin white man in his 30s, who is described as being 5ft 11ins or six feet tall.

“The collie dog was badly hurt and had to undergo emergency treatment. The schoolgirl was also distressed by the incident.”

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened on Sunday, May 4, at 3.30pm.
