19-year-old Rebecca Huggins came under fire in Stoops Lane, Bessacarr last night, with windows on her car being smashed after the vehicle was shot at.

But the former college student has said she is more bothered about people carrying weapons in Doncaster, rather than the damage to her vehicle.

"I can’t believe in this year people are still running around with guns.

"If anyone hears anything please come forward. I’m not bothered about the damage to my car but I’m bothered about the safety of other people when we have idiots running round with guns.”

Armed police descended on the road last night after people living in the area reported gunshots.

Photos from the scene show the street sealed off with police tape near to the junctions with Whitton Close and Hallam Close.

Residents in the area reported a large police presence in the area in the aftermath of the incident, with armed police with sniffer dogs searching gardens and streets in the area throughout the night and into this morning.

Added Rebecca: “I’m not a dodgy person - I’m a 19 year old girl who’s just finished college and works part time. My mum and dad are teachers and my brother is at uni so god knows why someone would want to come and shoot my car. They are pretty shaken up about it.”

Anyone with information about the incident is being urged to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101.
