doncaster residents are being urged to report incidents of domestic violence as part of a police crackdown.
There is a direct link between alcohol consumption and domestic violence, and the police want to ensure that the public know that there are dedicated officers in place to ensure that all domestic violence incidents are investigated.
Incidents of domestic violence in Doncaster rose from 3,297 last year to 3,400 this year. The recession was a contributing factor, the council said.
Figures show people who are categorised by the authorities as ‘high risk’ reported 243 attacks between April and September 2011 - compared to only 154 in the same period in 2010.
Contact police on 101 or 999 in an emergency.
