A manhunt has been launched after a 17-year-old girl was kicked in the groin in an unprovoked attack as she waited for a train.
British Transport Police have issued a picture of a man they want to speak to who they believe may have vital information about the incident at Mexborough Station.
Investigating officer PC Sandra Murray said: “The young girl was waiting in the shelter for her train to Meadowhall. A man entered the shelter and briefly spoke to her.
“Once both were standing on the platform, he then made a sexual comment towards her and kicked her in the groin, before walking off.”
The incident happened at around 6pm on Monday, December 22 on the Sheffield-bound platform at Mexborough Station - police have only just released details of the attack.
PC Murray added: “The man then went across the bridge to the Doncaster-bound platform and entered the main waiting room. He then went back to the Sheffield-bound platform and boarded the 6.15 train to Sheffield.
“We believe the man in the image could have vital information about this completely unprovoked attack which left a young girl shaken and scared and would urge him to come forward.”
