motorists are being reminded to keep their car keys hidden from view and their properties secure following a spate of burglaries.
The warning comes after a number of incidents in the region where a stick has reportedly been used to steal keys through letterboxes.
Temporary Detective Sergeant Matthew Mellor said: “Occasionally we see a spate of crimes like this, where car keys are stolen through letterboxes or cat flaps. We would urge any car owner to hide their car keys at night, and keep them well away from doors and windows.”
Police officers are giving out tips including remembering to lock all your doors and windows, even if you are at home and leaving a light on when you go out.
