A family has been left devastated after cancer medication and charity sponsorship money were stolen when their home was burgled.
A number of chemotherapy tablets in packets labelled ‘Monday to Friday’ were taken along with an envelope of Race for Life sponsorship money.
Police are appealing for information and for any witnesses to come forward after the incident at an address on Smillie Road, Rossington On Tuesday May 21 between 8.30am and 9.15am.
It is believed that thieves used ladders to gain entry to an upstairs rear window and searched the property.
The 34-year-old woman (who does not wish to be named) said: “This has been a distressing time for our family and we are saddened by the thought that someone could not only steal personal items and medication from us, but also steal money intended for charity.”
Computers, jewellery, perfume cash and alcohol were also taken.
Sgt Russ Higham said: “We are keen to recover the stolen property and trace the people responsible. All burglaries have a massive impact on the families involved, but this incident especially has made a dramatic impact on the family, due to the medication and family items taken. We encourage anyone with information to call 101.”
