A fugitive who amassed a fortune through drugs and money laundering is to have his wealth seized after a court hearing.
The Serious Organised Crime Agency has been granted a Civil Recovery Order against ‘on the run’ drug trafficker and alleged money launderer Maurice Turrall.
SOCA told the High Court Turrall, of Southlands, Wroot, bought most of his assets through drug trafficking and money laundering.
The court heard he laundered his illegal profits through two ‘land banking’ companies he was connected to, DP Land Acquisitions and Hayden James, using the proceeds to purchase property, cars, watches and antiques.
He was ordered to give up properties in Wroot and Mexborough, a car and cash from the sale of a second vehicle, a personalised number plate, jewellery and antiques.
His assests were frozen by a judge in May 2011.
Turrall was jailed for possessing Class B drugs with intent to supply in 1997 but has been ‘on the run’ from West Yorkshire Police since February 2008. He was subject of a Crimewatch appeal on 30 April 2009.
