Arson attack on Doncaster school involved multiple buildings, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage

Officers are appealing for witnesses following a reported arson in Doncaster earlier this month.

Between 8am and 8pm on October 3, officers were called by colleagues from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service to a report of a fire at the disused Danum Academy Lower School on Leger Way.

Multiple buildings within the site were set alight, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.

Enquiries so far suggest around five people may have ran from the scene and officers are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Firefighters from across Doncaster attended three incidents over night

PC Matt Hubbard, overseeing the investigation, said: “Thankfully, no one was inside the building at the time as this arson could have led to devastating consequences.

“Enquiries so far have suggested that possibly five people ran away from the scene at the time and we’re now appealing for anyone who may have seen them or has any information to get in touch.”
