Arrests after police drugs swoop

Police have charged two men with drug offences after cannabis was found at their properties in Mexborough.

Officers from the Mexborough Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) found 12 cannabis plants and a quantity of loose cannabis with an estimated value of around £5,800 at an address on Cedar Avenue. The haul was uncovered after a member of the public made reports to the police.

A 26-year-old man was arrested and charged with production of class B drug, possession with intent to supply and supply of a class B drug.

Cannabis plants were also discovered at a property on Thirlmere Court

The discovery was made after staff workers from St Leger Homes housing agency, attended the property investigating a what report of a water leak.

Police were notified and 16 cannabis plants were recovered with an estimate value of £3,800. A 36-year-old man was arrested and charged by officers with production of class B drug.

Both the men appeared at Doncaster Magistrates Court on Wednesday December 14 .

The two men pleaded guilty and were bailed to attend Doncaster Crown Court in January for sentencing.

“We will always investigate any information we receive from the public.

PC Scarrow added: “I am pleased we have been able to stop these drugs ending up on the streets of Doncaster.”
