The Nation is gripped by football fever, with Euro 2016 and on Saturday we have a chance to see some footballing legends and former England and Wales internationals LIVE at the Keepmoat Athletics pitch.
The Legends team had a busy transfer deadline day yesterday, they added three more players to their team including Sheffield Wednesday legend David Hirst, ex-Aston Villa defensive midfielder Ian Taylor and former Wales international and Manchester United full back Clayton Blackmore.
In a surprise twist the Legends team will be reliving a moment first seen in 1990 during a game between Sheff Wed vs Man City, David Hirst will play in goal. During that game David Hirst first scored and then replaced Kevin Pressman due to injury and went on to keep a clean sheet as well.
The Legends team now looks almost complete as it includes the following, Former England internationals Paul Merson, Darren Anderton, David Hirst, Lee Hendrie and Chris Sutton, they are joined by John Beresford, Ian Taylor and Clayton Blackmore as well as current Doncaster Rovers captain James Coppinger and 90’s Rovers legend Colin Cramb.
The event is not only about the football, it also includes a Family Fun Day with rides, bouncy castles, slides, penalty shoot-outs as well as stalls and fun games.
Family Fun will start from 12 noon with the game set to kick off at 2pm with our Charity Heroes set to take on the football legends of our past.
Tickets will be available on the gate at £5 Adult, £3 Child and £10 Family (2 Adult & 2 Child)
