Collegiate cricketer Simpson smashes Sheffield Midweek League record with score of 237 not out
Big hitting cricketer Mike Simpson enjoyed the innings of his life when he played for Sheffield Collegiate.
Simpson clobbered an amazing 30 sixes and nine boundaries as he rattled up the astonishing total of 237 not out.
And his massive tally – the Money Map Alliance Midweek Cricket League’s first-ever double century – came off just 62 deliveries.
It saw Collegiate post a gigantic score of 304-0, another league record, in their 12 eight-ball overs Premier Division match against Khan.
Simpson’s astonishing display whipped up a social media storm as the cricketing fraternity gave him a collective pat on the back.
On twitter, Eddie Rapper posted: “Amazing performance!” while David Seal described Simpson’s achievement as “Mental”.
Sam Varley said the feat left him “Speechless” while Nick Varley added: “Absolutely unreal, staggering doesn’t come close. I hope Mike gets the publicity he so deserves”.
Nick Davis thought the knock was “ Incredible at any level of the game”.
