PEOPLE all over the world can now learn about the rich history of Swinton at the click of a button following the launch of a website on the town.
The site was launched at Brearley's accountants in Swinton yesterday and Internet users around the gobe can now learn about the town by logging onto www.swintonheritage.org.uk.
Giles Brearley, accountant and historian, said: "We have been considering creating a website for some time to make it easier for people with an interest in the area to contact us and access information.
"The site contains information about the activities of Swinton heritage, the history of the town and a shopping facility to purchase books and items of historical interest."
Swinton councillor and fellow historian, Ken Wyatt, said: "The website is not only about the past, we also hope to use the facility to promote local events, projects and news about the community both past and present."
To coincide with the launch, a new 4 DVD set called 'The History of Swinton Volume I to IV' has now been put on sale.
The DVD takes the viewer on a journey through Swinton's history from the earliest times to the modern era.
It includes more than four hours of film and is priced 20.
It is available over the counter at Swinton Library, Newstyme in Mexborough High Street or Brearley Accountants in Bridge Street, Swinton.
