Civic favourites to journey back to the Cast theatre

The town’s new performance venue, Cast, is set to present a series of productions which journey’s back to the era of the Civic Theatre.

Staff and audiences have hand-picked a selection of productions that have left them with lasting memories of the old venue.

Including The Barron Knights: Soundtrack Of Our Lives on Friday, March 28, The Good Old Days of Music Hall and Variety on Tuesday, April 8 and An Adult Evening with Billy Pearce on Wednesday, April 9.

Barron Knights | Soundtrack Of Our Lives

Friday 28 March, 7.30pm

It’s now 50 years since The Barron Knights started touring the world with their unique style of comedy and rock ‘n’ roll. 

Supremely talented and a showbiz phenomenon, they have performed across the world from the London Palladium to Buckingham Palace and have toured with The Beatles and the Rolling Stones.

Featuring old favourites and new songs their hilarious tunes include Killer Queen, asking will Camilla ever be Queen and The Windmills of Your Mind, about what happens to your body as you get older.

The Good Old Days of Music Hall and Variety

Tuesday 8 April, 1.30pm

The award-winning variety show taking you back to the great days of music hall and variety entertainment.

Starring hit recording stars The Bachelors with John Stokes. Come and hear all the famous songs live, Charmaine, I Believe, Ramona, I Wouldn’t Trade You For The World and many more.

With special guest, star comedian Johnnie Casson, from TV’s Des O’ Connor and Paul O Grady shows.

An Adult Evening with Billy Pearce

Wednesday 9 April, 7.30pm

National treasure, and without doubt one of Britain’s most talented and best loved comedians and performers, Billy Pearce emerged from the fertile talent fields of Butlins in the mid 1980s.

A multi award winner his won just about every comedy award going, including a British comedy award, Solo comedian of the year, and Best television comedy newcomer at the London Palladium.

Billy has hosted the Children’s Variety Show and broken box office records at theatres across the country as well as appearing in Tonight at the London Palladium, Through the Keyhole, Blankety Blank, Talking Telephone Numbers and You Bet.
