THESE ladies are celebrating after raising money in style, with a charity fashion show that whipped up £500 for good causes.
The Barkston Ash Villager ladies held the event last month at Dintingdales Restaurant in Scarthingwell. The event was rated as a huge success not only because of the amount that it raised, but also because it attracted over 70 people, as well as a host of sponsors including Anne Marie Fashions of Kippax. Also helping to contribute were a host of local Sherburn businesses who provided the prizes for the raffle draw which took place on the same evening.
The idea of raising money in this way was originally thought of by Marion Wright and June Lancaster who both live in Barkston Ash and who produce the local newsletter.
June took the opportunity to present the cheque (see picture) to the leaders of the Burns Club at Pinderfields Hospital at the meeting of Osgoldcross and Elmete Rotary club meeting.
The women say they are now looking forward to next year’s event which they hope will surpass this year’s target as well as raise awareness of the charity.
