Spring’s finally here which means Bingley Music Live’s line up is taking shape and we’re bursting to reveal this year’s acts.
The first set of performers confirmed for the Main Stage are DJ Fresh, The Pigeon Detectives, Hard-Fi and The Charlatans, while our Raise the Roof stage welcomes Miles & Erica and The Lancashire Hot Pots. Expect many more headline names to be revealed over the coming weeks.
Topping last year’s sell-out weekender is the name of the game and we’re sure that our line up won’t disappoint. First up, we have the oh-so Hot right now, DJ Fresh. One of the drum ‘n’ bass scene’s most influential producers and DJs; Fresh AKA Dan Stein is riding high on his chart success following the UK’s first d n b number one in February. His FRESH/LIVE set incorporates a full live band performing Fresh’s latest tracks.
Our festival line up wouldn’t be complete without stalwarts from the North’s celebrated music scene! West Yorkshire’s indie rock favourites, The Pigeon Detectives give an airing to their 3rd eagerly anticipated album Up, Guards And At ‘Em! As well as treating the crowd to classic tracks from the platinum selling Wait for Me album.
Then bringing their Killer Sounds to Myrtle Park will be a band with a string of gritty ska-tinged hits to their name. Hard-Fi received widespread critical acclaim for their Stars of CCTV album in 2005 with NME naming it ‘Album of the Year’. Their defiant, dance influenced indie songs and raucous live appearances ensure that Hard-Fi will deliver some memorable festival highlights in 2012.
Back by popular demand, BML favourites, The Charlatans return to Myrtle Park. Twenty two years since the release of debut album Some Friendly, the band has undoubtedly cemented their position in the rock history books for their prolific contribution to the alternative indie scene. Expect an extraordinary, sing-along performance of hit singles from their impressive back catalogue of 11 Top 40 studio albums. Since forming in 1989 the band has been an inspiring force with Tim Burgess’s mellow vocal lending much the band’s unique sound.
Following a series of extremely successful years, 2012 is set to be a year of growth with many new developments in the offing. Not least will be the improvements to the 2nd Raise the Roof stage. To this end Miles & Erica will kick start proceedings. The Wonder Stuff front man and violinist Erica Nockalls have two studio albums behind them but it’s as a live duo that they pair have built a hefty following. Then bringing some quirky humour to the weekend will be Merseyside based, comedy folk band The Lancashire Hot Pots undoubtedly performing recent single You could get hit by a bus tomorrow.
Now in its 6th year, Bingley Music Live (BML) has firmly established itself on the festival circuit; consistently impressing audiences and performers alike with its intimate, friendly atmosphere and professional organisation. The chance to really get up close and personal to your favourite bands is one of the event’s stand-out features and means that festival goers can eagerly anticipate getting to the heart of the action.
The newly improved Raise the Roof stage will include a bigger tent, beefed-up production and a new musical policy to provide a point of difference to the main stage while maintaining a high calibre of bands. This year also see the introduction of a new third stage. Organised in association with the Musician’s Centre the new stage is dedicated to local talent and will focus all its attention on uncovering the latest unsigned talent. Details of how to apply will be revealed soon.
