Celebs back Zoe’s charity dinner do

DEARNE businesswoman Zoe Darcy has organised a fundraiser to support those who helped her after she escaped the clutches of an abusive partner.

The 35-year-old had to grab her children and make a midnight dash away from her partner to start new lives in a safe house.

Now a transformed woman, Zoe is attempting to raise much-needed funds for the Victim Support service which helped her, by organising a special black-tie dinner and a Secret Santa present sack with a few celebrity surprises inside!

And celebrities including comedian Russell Brand and Barnsley’s renowned singer/songwriter Kate Rusby have added their support to the growing list of Secret Santas.

Now Zoe is hoping even more will join her campaign, by buying a gift and becoming a Santa, and by snapping up tickets to a sumptuous black-tie dinner, dance and auction at Sheffield’s Aston Hall Hotel on November 24.

The dinner is being organised by Zoe and her team at Michael Jay Ltd – the rapidly-expanding Manvers recruitment firm she co-launched in 2009.

Zoe said: “I was not the sort of person anyone would think would suffer domestic abuse. But I did, and although I tried to hide it, people could see the bruises and it was so hard to pretend I had walked into doors.”

She added: “But eventually, my confidence came back and I was able to rebuild my life.”

Zoe wants the funds from the gala dinner and auction to go to Victim Support, who help victims of domestic violence and relocate them into a safer place.

Secret Santa gifts are need for children up to age 18.

Tickets for the dinner are £60 each.
