She’s helped trigger economic development schemes, create jobs, attract inward investment and strengthened the city’s position as a ‘global player’.
That’s why Diana Buckley has made it into a Top 50 Future List of Northern Power Women.
It hails outstanding women working in both public and private sectors that are shaping the northern economy.
Diana is head of economic strategy at Creative Sheffield, the economic development arm of Sheffield City Council.
She said: “My passion is bringing people together around a new idea and seeing it take flight. Creative Sheffield is the interface between the public and private sector.
“In conjunction with political leaders in the city, we work closely with universities, business leaders and international experts.
“These relationships have the power to really drive change, create jobs and growth.”
She added that everyone in the business community has a role to play to make sure the region grows economically.
“I’m very excited about being included in the Top 50 Future List. Women play a crucial part in growing and shaping the economy and I know through my own experience the importance of supporting and celebrating each other’s achievements.
“We all have a part to play in the north punching its weight economically and I’m proud to be working with partners to secure Sheffield’s lead role in the Northern Powerhouse.”
Diana contributes to the SPRINT women’s development programme and is chair of the board of directors of the Freedom Community project.
