School children helped staff to relaunch The Co-operative Food store in Mexborough following a £200, 000 refurbishment.
Pupils from Highwoods Primary School were guests of honour to cut the ribbon and officially relaunch the new look store in Adwick Road on Friday.
The store has been redefined with a focus on fresh, healthy foods and essentials.
The improvements have been carried out over a six week period to minimise disruption to its customers.
Ryan Latham, area manager for The Co-operative Food store, said: “We are thrilled to have made such a significant investment in Mexborough, and delighted that we have a fantastic new-look food store. The Co-operative is working to transform and grow its convenience business, investing to enhance the in-store experience while lowering the price of everyday essentials.
“We are confident that the store will be a real asset to the community, enabling shoppers to pick up delicious food conveniently and, as a community retailer and a co-operative, it will play its part in local life too.”
To mark the refurbishment, students - who hold an NUS extra card – will receive a 10 per cent discount off groceries.
