Discount supermarket Aldi has reopened its newly extended Doncaster store this morning.
An official ribbon cutting ceremony was conducted at the store in Barnsley Road, Scawsby, involving manager Emma Oxley and members of the under 14s Scawsby Scorpions Junior Football Club.
The store, which originally opened in 1993, has undergone a three month development to increase store space and create a new 132-space car park for customer convenience.
As part of Aldi’s community engagement initiative, the store has sponsored the under 14s team and has provided kits and rain jackets for the season.
The store will also be supporting Scawsby Saltersgate Infant School by donating a range of products for the school’s Christmas fair.
The extension of Aldi’s store has created an additional five jobs, and Aldi is currently looking to recruit store managers, assistant store managers and deputy store managers for other stores in the Doncaster area.
The newly extended store will stock around 1,500 product lines offering Doncaster customers a great choice of high quality, locally sourced and everyday low priced produce.
Emma Oxley said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming our customers back into the store after the three month extension project, and we’re also hoping to see some new faces. I’d like to thank the local community for their patience during this time.”
