Since the first intake of apprentices at Meadowhall in 2011, 32 young people have signed up to complete various work-based qualifications at the shopping centre.
Mr Pearce said: “The apprentice scheme has been a resounding success for the centre.”
Paula Windle, customer experience co-ordinator who is responsible for the apprentices, said: “The group we have in the centre has been very impressive and really immersed themselves in their roles, as well as supporting in other ways, such as joining in our community and charity work. There have been some amazing success stories and we now aim to give the latest recruits even greater levels of responsibility and experience, for example, working side by side with staff on our customer care lines and in the main reception area.”
