AT least SEVENTEEN staff members at Mexborough School have put their tickets in since Doncaster Council sacked its governors and took it over, the Times can reveal today.
But the school’s controversial headteacher, Mirjam Bühler-Willey denied there was a crisis... even though the escapees total TWENTY per cent of its teaching staff and more than 10 per cent of the total employed.
Astonishingly, despite this, Ofsted have now upgraded the school, in a new review.
It was as suprising to some, as the grim review, last January, which led to the council suspending the governors and taking control of the school... and now backing a take-over by the Co-operative Society.
As insiders this week questioned the council’s actions, the authority was being lashed in another bitter row – over its rent hikes at Mexborough Market.
Labour leader Ed Miliband toured the market – then ordered Doncaster Mayor Peter Davies to stop “riding roughshod” over the town.
But Mayor Davies hit back saying the traders were living in “Shangri-La”, and not the real world!
