Woman of steel Jackie Neal has worked tirelessly to grow her forging business from its humble beginnings at her home on Abbey Lane in Sheffield into an industry giant.
Now, she is the City Region’s Business Person of the Year.
Founded by Jackie and husband Steve, Abbey Forged Products is the UK’s leading forgemaster in the oil and gas industry.
With more than 30 years of experience in forging, the company specialises in bespoke products using open die and ring rolling methods.
In a workplace where women are in a minority, Jackie has remained at the helm of the company guiding it through tough economic times.
Abbey has invested millions in Sheffield – when it could have invested in cheaper overseas manufacturing facilities – and grown its presence in international markets
The company has won a Queen’s Award for International Trade and Jackie selflessly gave up her place when the company was asked to send two employees to Buckingham Palace for a reception with the Queen.
Abbey was also recently included in the Sunday Times Profit Track 100.
The league table ranks Britain’s 100 private companies with the fastest-growing profits, based on their latest three years of available accounts.
Abbey Forged products charted at number 15 nationally this year and sits amongst many household names.
