A new Marks & Spencer Foodhall has been opened in Doncaster - creating 50 new jobs.
The retail giant has opened the 9,500 sq ft store at Wheatley Hall Road Retail Park.
A traditional ribbon cutting ceremony marked the opening on Wednesday, May 27, with store manager Bernadette Barkham and members of staff.
Bernadette said: “After working hard to prepare the store for its launch, we were thrilled to open our doors.
“There were crowds of shoppers at the opening, all eager to see what the new store has to offer.
“We’re confident that our quality offering, along with our in-store bakery, will appeal to locals, as well as those from the surrounding areas, and the store is a great addition to Wheatley Hall Road Retail Park.
“I am excited to continue welcoming customers through our doors in the upcoming months.”
Denis Copeland, centre manager for Wheatley Retail Park, said: “We are pleased to welcome the M&S Foodhall to Wheatley. It is a great addition to the park and provides shoppers with more variety whilst complementing our existing line-up.”
Doncaster woman Maureen Roarty was one of the first customers in the new store.
She said: “I’ve been watching the store develop over the last couple of weeks and I was really excited to be at the opening. It’s nice to have a little bit of luxury on our doorstep.”
M&S bosses say the store will offer customers more than 6,200 food and drink lines including seasonal fresh produce and award-winning beers and wines.
It is open Monday to Friday, between 8am and 8pm, Saturdays, 8am to 7pm, and Sundays, 10.30am to 4.30pm.
