Emergency crews have been called out to Austerfield, Doncaster, this morning over serious industrial fire.
Seven fire engines were at the scene at 6am and police closed the main road through the village.
Workers at a factory are thought to have been evacuated.
One Austerfield resident said: “I heard a loud noise about 6am, which woke me up. That was followed by a lot of commotion - there were sirens and alarms, and people running around and shouting.
“The firemen seemed to have special breathing equipment, and the police sealed the road through the village. I could see that the factory workers had all been evacuated too. It was very dramatic, like a scene from an apocalyptic disaster movie or something. At first I feared we might have to be evacuated.
“Nothing like this usually happens in Austerfield.”
