Birthday delight for police-mad Tommy with trip in patrol car with flashing blue lights
When seven year old Tommy's mum wrote to Doncaster Police to ask if she could his picture next to a police car, which she hoped to use on his birthday cake, officers decided to go a step better. They invited him in, to be their youngsters recruit for a morning.
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Wilson wrote back to invite him to for a tour around the building.

Hide AdPark Primary School pupil Tommy, from Wheatley, arrived for the tour decked out in his own police uniform.
Tommy has lots of police related toys and wants to be one of the boys in blue when he grows up.
He said: "I want to be a policeman - it looks a really exciting job. My favourite thing on the television is Police Interceptors.
"Now I've had a tour of the police station and a trip in a police car.

Hide Ad"The best bit was going in the police car with the lights and sirens on. I want to join the police even more now."
PC Craig Starbuck, was impressed by Tommy's enthusiasm during his visit.
He said: "I think he's been a great recruit for the day. I would be happy to be on patrol with him when he's a bit older - I think he's showing great potential!
"It was great for us to be able to show the human side of the police, as people who are approachable and here to help the public."
