Belton play area vandals damage equipment

Vandals continue to cause criminal damage to children’s play equipment at Belton playing fields.

In recent weeks police have received numberous reports, with items being pulled out of the ground and swings being wrapped around the railings so that youngsters reach them.

“If you are a user of this equipment please be considerate to other users. This park is there for everybody to use.”

A Humberside Police spokesman said: “Enquires are continuing into this matter and local youths have been identified and will be spoken to in the next few weeks.”

Anybody with any information on these incidents is asked to phone 101 or call into Epworth Police Station, office hours are 9am to 3pm Tuesdays and Thursdays.

* One male adult was arrested in the Ealand area after driving a stolen motor vehicle from South Yorkshire and then making off without payment after obtaining petrol from a garage. The vehicle was followed along the A18 then the male was followed on foot and found hiding in a garden.

* With the darker night’s drawing in police are asking local residents to be extra careful with the security of their houses.

Please ensure premises are secure and windows are locked. Anyone going on holiday inform neighbours or other trusted persons so that in the case of an emergency entry can be gained to the premises.

* With the oncoming dates of Halloween, Mischief Night and Bonfire Night, police are asking the public to have consideration towards other house owners and the elderly.

“The practice of trick or treating should be an enjoyable experience for all concerned,” a spokesman said.

The police ask that this practice involving young persons should be properly supervised by parents.
