A CAMPAIGN backed by a Tickhill primary school could see lower speed limits across the borough.

Jayne Boaler, headteacher at St Mary’s School has urged politcians to lower speed limits outside schools to 20mph and has now gathered support from members of Doncaster Council and Caroline Flint, MP for Don Valley.

Ms Boaler said: “We are delighted that following all our campaigning for improving road safety measures outside our school, the council has recognised the need to reduce speed limits.”

Politicians are now stepping up the pressure on highways bosses to bring in the limit outside Doncaster’s primary schools and introduce parking bans outside school gates.

Mayor Peter Davies has met traffic officers to discuss the issue.
