Baby taken to hospital and six injured in Sheffield Parkway smash

Six people were involved in a two car collision on the Parkway this evening, including a young baby.

The nature of the injuries are not life threatening but all six have been taken to the Northern General.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said: "Two vehicles were involved in a collision in which one of them ended up on it's roof"

"A young baby was involved in the incident but was not injured. The baby has been taken Hospital for a check-up as a precaution."

"There were six people in total, all have traveled to the Northern General. Their injuries are not though to be too serious"

The road out of the city from Park Square to Derek Dooley Way and Cutlers gate remains closed say Police.

Police, Fire and Ambulance services were in attendance at the scene. Both vehicles will need to be cleared before the road can open again.

Earlier eyewitnesses described seeing a car being flipped onto its roof.

Gareth Taylor said: “I have just passed there. Parkway down to town is blocked. Prince Of Wales road turn off is closed.

“Coming out of town is blocked. Fire brigade and ambulance and police on scene. Over turned car and another car. Looks like it will be shut off most of night.”
