A former leisure facility went up in flames in Rotherham last night after an arson attack.
Yobs struck at the disused Swinton Swimming Pool and Squash Court site in Charnwood Street, Swinton, at 7.15pm.
A spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said the blaze was started near the squash courts and spread to other parts of the building.
Two crews from Rotherham Central Fire Station attended and spent nearly two hours tackling the blaze.
The facility has been derelict for several years after it was closed by Rotherham Council during a shake up of leisure services across the town.
Elsewhere, arsonists set fire to a skip in Orgreave Drive, Woodhouse Mill, at about 7pm. A crew from Parkway Fire Station dealt with the incident.
Yobs also set fire to a Peugeot 206 car in Westwood Lane, Tankersley in Barnsley at 9.15pm. Tankersley firefighters spent 30 minutes tackling the blaze.
An accidental fire caused damage to a storage unit in Lakeside Boulevard, Doncaster, at about 11pm. A crew from Doncaster Central Fire Station spent over an hour at the scene. The cause is under investigation.
Arsonists set fire to a car transporter in Broadway, Swinton, at 3am this morning. Crews from Rotherham and Dearne stations spent 30 minutes at the scene.
