Appeal for witnesses to man’s Doncaster motorway bridge death

Police are seeking witnesses to a tragedy on the A1 in which a man plunged to his death from a motorway bridge.

South Yorkshire Police have issued the appeal after the man, who has not yet been identified, fell from a footbridge onto the A1(M) near Warmsworth yesterday afternoon.

At around 3.15pm, the 51-year-old man was seen in his wheelchair on the Broomhouse Lane road bridge over the motorway, between junctions 36 and 35 southbound.

He was then seen to climb over the railings and fall onto the hard shoulder, suffering fatal injuries.

Nobody else is thought to have been involved.
