A Crowle teenager is celebrating after been given a role in her local pantomime for the third year running.

Charlotte Geddes, aged 13, of Potts Lane, will appear in Dick Whittington when it shows at the Ploughwright Theatre, Laneham Lane, Scunthorpe, over the festive period.

Proud mum Susan Geddes said: “I’m so proud of her.

I’m proud of all the dancers, but when it’s your daughter up there it’s brilliant.

“ It was a really tough one this year because the show involves acrobatics and well as dancing, but Charlotte’s really good at acrobatics.

“I think Charlotte is the only one from the Isle who is doing panto again.

“Charlotte was chuffed to bits when she got through the audition.

“She loves working with Annie Fanny (played by Darren Johnson) and the whole pantomime atmosphere. She also loves making more friends.”

Charlotte will take her role as a dancer in a run of 27 shows.

Rehearsals will start on first November and run for the whole month.

But, Sue said this won’t be a problem for Charlotte, who dances every week night and at also at the weekend.

“Dancing is her life,” she said.

The Axholme Academy student, who is in year 9, has to ask permission for time off to appear in the pantomime.

Her hectic schedule means that on some days Charlotte will perform in one show at 10am and another at 2pm, meaning she has to miss school.

The school have agreed to Charlotte having six days off this year, on the condition that she catches up with missed school work.

Sue said this will not be a problem for her daughter, who does well with her studies.

Charlotte has previously appeared in Jack and the Beanstalk and Aladdin.

Her dancing talents have won her a series of awards, including some at the Bullcroft Festival last year.

Next week she will also compete in the Gainsborough Stage Dance Festival at Kirton-in-Lindsey.

The Kimberley School of Dance student has dreams of one day being a professional dancer on London’s West End.

The panto will run from December 6 to January 4.
