Roy, who moved with his wife to Crowle two years ago, has had a long time interest in photography, including wildlife and landscapes.

He is constantly trawling the length and breadth of the Isle and the surrounding district with camera in hand hoping to capture anything and everything.

The giraffes in the picture were captured at Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Doncaster having a great time playing in the winter sun.

It is just one of a collection Roy has captured. Others include images of birds in his garden and at Normanby Hall, but he stressed that you don’t have to travel far afield to capture the same kind of stunning image.

Roy is a former freelance reporter and also a staffer for the Sheffield Star, and he added: “I have always had a keen interest in photography. This is a picture at the wildlife park where animals are given relative freedom. I must stress that you don’t have to travel to foreign climes to get the best images as they can be just outside in your back garden.”
