Food-lovers across the Don and Dearne were left stunned when one of the area’s best-loved eating pubs shut its doors overnight, a few months ago.

But now the Kings Head in Swinton has re-opened after karting king Steve Sutton decided to Avago at running the Church Street pub!

He has given control of Avago Karting to his son, and taken a five-year lease on the pub, with Enterprise Inns.

Enterprise have spent an estimated £50,000 on refurbishing the venue.

Together with wife Angela, who was previously at the Ring O’Bells, Steve will be focusing on food with a daily carvery.

However, drinkers will still be welcome.

The pub opened for lunch on June 2 and the Times’ own food critics Quentin and Sue have already sampled Sunday Lunch.

Their verdict will appear on these pages shortly.
