The pupils from Haxey Primary school have been treated to new Atlanta Sports Challenge Playgroup gear and are already making good use of it.

Some of the money used to pay for the equipment at The Nooking school was raised by the Parent Teacher Association, (PTA) with £6,000 donated by parents who raised funds by holding a variety of events, including cake sales, collections in the community and winter and summer fairs.

The equipment includes a two-lane wooden assault course and a wall-mounted target that youngsters have to aim a ball at.

There is also a giant stopwatch in place, which aims to encourage pupils to time themselves as they complete the assault course, before going back to do it again, while trying to beat their previous time.

Business manager at the school, Lisa Hutchinson, said: “Parents have given very generously to help us raise money for this. I must praise the parents for their generosity, as the equipment is proving to be a big hit with the children.”
