Work on the new sixth form centre at South Axholme Academy continues apace, to ready it for the new term in September.
Academy principal, Sarah Thompson Scott, said staff appointed to teach A-level subjects were working closely with other colleagues to ensure that learning at post 16 level would maintain the academy’s high standards.
She added: “Applications for the sixth form are encouraging with almost 40 students currently signed up. Another open evening is planned soon to showcase our facilities. Parents and students who have already seen them have been extremely impressed.
“With the imminent appointment of a sixth form administrator, student interviews will begin soon. Key staff are also currently being trained in sixth form finances, student bursaries, applications to higher education institutions, information advice and guidance as well as looking at the emotional and mental wellbeing of sixth form students. An induction and team building day is planned for students who have applied for a place at the sixth form in early July. Details of this are to follow. All in all these are very exciting times.”
