A galaxy of sci-fi stars including two Doctor Who favourites are set to beam into Doncaster this weekend for a feast of out of this world fun.
Digi-Con, which describes itself as “the ultimate geek weekend” will descend on Doncaster Racecourse on Saturday and Sunday and will feature a host of stars of stage and screen as well as a string of other entertainments and attractions.
Leading the charge will be Doctor Who stars Peter Davison and Paul McGann, who played the fifth and eight incarnations of the much loved television Timelord, respectively.
Dave Prowse, who played Darth Vader in the original series of Star Wars films will make a rapid return to Doncaster following an appearance at a similar sci-fi style event last and he will be joined by Frazer Hines, who starred in 117 episodes of Doctor Who as companion Jamie McCrimmon before going on to star as Joe Sugden in ITV farming soap Emmerdale Farm.
A host of other actors, writers, illustrators, authors, musicians will also be in attendance for photo shoots, talks, autograph opportunities and more.
A spokesman said: “Digi-Con is a new weekend long convention. It will bring a variety of special guests, panels, shows and over 100 trader tables to appease your geeky needs!”
Other attractions will include a life size mock-up of The Simpsons sofa, the van from hit 1980s US action series The A-Team, Knight Rider carr Kitt, Daleks, Cars favourite Lightning McQueen as well as a Tardis from Doctor Who, attractions from the Ghostbusters franchise and a Battlestar Galactica
McGann starred as Doctor Who in the 1996 TV film but did not appear in a series of the sci-fi classic, although he did record a series of audio adventures as the character. He came to prominence for his appearance in 1986 BBC drama The Monocled Mutineer and later went on to appear in cult comedy Withnail And I where he appeared alongside Richard E Grant.
Davison, meanwhile, starred as the fifth doctor between 1982-84 and has also enjoyed a long and successful career in film and television.
Digi-Con opens at 10am - 9am for VIP ticket holders - and is open until 8pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
The event is open to all ages but under 12’s must be accompanied by an adult over the age of 16.
