Marie Curie Cancer Care is urging people in the district to donate something a little different this spring – a couple of spare hours.

The charity is looking for volunteers to help with collections in Doncaster as part of it’s Great Daffodil Appeal 2015 during March. Money raised at these collections will help to fund the local nursing service and every volunteer will be helping to make a difference to terminally ill people in the community.

This year local fundraisers are hoping to raise more than £55,000 from more than 150 Great Daffodil Appeal collections across the area, which will provide the equivalent of a staggering 2,700 hours of Marie Curie Nursing Care.

There are five collections taking place in Doncaster and the charity will give volunteers everything they need to get the pounds pouring in.

Local fundraiser Katie Grinter said: “We have collection dates booked at a number of venues in Doncaster, including Asda in Conisbrough and Morrisons in Armthorpe, both on March 1.

“We are always wanting help with our fundraising and any help is appreciated. We want to get as many people as possible wearing daffodils this March so if you think you are able to give just two hours to help collect at a venue near you in the coming months then please feel free to contact me on either katie.grinter@mariecurie.org.uk or on 01274 386190”.
