Artists have a chance to win a share of £1,000 in the annual South Yorkshire Open Art competition being held at the Cooper Gallery in Barnsley.
All creative people are being encouraged to enter their work, so whether you are a professional or amateur artist or a student of art aged 17 or over from the South Yorkshire area, for only £15 you can submit up to three pieces.
The winner of the competition will be crowned South Yorkshire Open Artist of the Year 2011 and will walk away with a cheque for £500.
The Emerging Artist of the Year will win £250 and throughout the exhibition there’ll be a Visitors’ Choice – sponsored by the Friends of the Cooper Gallery – where members of the public will be invited to vote for their favourite.
The piece with most votes at the end of the exhibition will win a cash prize of £250.
For an application form call into the Cooper Gallery on Church Street, or download one from www.barnsleylive.co.uk. The closing date for entries is Saturday, March 12.
