If you care for someone with dementia, or if you have a loved one who has memory loss, is confused or lonely, contact the Making Space charity to find out more about how they can support you and your family.

Making Space is a leading health and social care charity that has been supporting adults with care and support needs and their carers to lead independent and fulfilling lives since 1982.

The charity provides three much-needed services for carers and people living with dementia in Doncaster.

Sandalwood is a purpose-built social centre for people living with dementia and older people who are socially isolated or have long term health needs.

This service provides social, creative and meaningful activities, freshly cooked daily lunches and an active programme of events every weekday, all under the care and guidance of a team of qualified support workers.

The Doncaster Admiral Service (TDAS)

If you have a diagnosis of dementia and are registered with a Doncaster GP or if you are a carer of someone with dementia, The Doncaster Admiral Service can support you, your family and support network.

The TDAS Admiral Nurses can give you the knowledge you need to understand dementia, the skills and tools to improve communication with your loved one, and can provide emotional and psychological support to help you continue caring for your family member.

Dementia Advisers at the service can help you to access support groups in the community, meet other people with similar circumstances to your own, signpost to other support and much more.

Carers’ Wellbeing Service (Doncaster)

The Carers’ Wellbeing Service in Doncaster offers unpaid carers information and advice as well as emotional, practical and peer support.

This team of carer support workers know just what it means to be a carer and to want to be there for family members or friends. They also know what it is like when you are trying to juggle these commitments with work or other responsibilities.
