Nigel Ball is the councillor for Conisbrough and Denaby, during this time he is encouraging Doncaster residents to use the pause and reflect (PAR) method in their daily lives.

He said: “Before you do anything you should pause and reflect before acting - yesterday I went on a walk with my wife and her first instinct was to pick up litter on the ground but I had to remind her that it isn’t safe at the moment.

“This is a stressful time but we need to break habits.”

Nigel says that his ward Conisbrough and Denaby are doing well at practising social distancing following the government's guidance.

He said: “Conisbrough is rising to this challenge I went into the village yesterday and popped into several local businesses - I practised social distancing and stayed at least two meters apart.

“There were still some cars and the local bus but far less traffic than normal.

“There were not the usual groups of people standing talking only the occasional person - people are taking this on board.”

Doncaster Council has sent out letters that will arrive at residents' homes within the next few days - these will outline the new community hubs in Doncaster and how people can access them if they are in need.

“It’s not business as usual at the council - our main priority is to focus on people and make sure they are safe and well,” he continued.

“My advice to people is to stay inside and only go out when you need to - if you have a garden make use of it.

“Stay in touch with elderly family members - my family has been taking it in turns to ring my mum who is over 70 and doesn’t use technology such as IPads.”

The new helpline number for the community hub is 01302 430300.
