One further Doncaster coronavirus death as lockdown rules eased further

The figure is an increase of one on yesterday’s total, the NHS England statistics show.

It comes as Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a raft of measures allowing a number of businesses to open on July 4 and the relaxing of the 2m social distancing rule.

New data from the Office for National Statistics reveal that Covid-related deaths are nearly 54,000 - despite today's official government figures sitting at 42,693.

The UK's coronavirus hospital death toll rose by 56, including 46 new deaths in England, four in Scotland, five in Wales and one in Northern Ireland.

Locally, 284 deaths have been recorded in Sheffield, 186 in Rotherham and 140 in Barnsley.

The Doncaster figures relate to deaths within hospitals run by Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

This includes Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Mexborough’s Montagu Hospital and Bassetlaw Hospital at Worksop.

Meanwhile, Boris Johnson has said pubs, restaurants, hotels and hairdressers can open from 4 July in England, when social distancing rules will be eased.

He said people should remain 2m apart where possible but a "one metre plus" rule will be introduced.

Two households in England will also be able to meet indoors and stay overnight - with social distancing.

Indoor gyms, swimming pools, nail bars and indoor play areas are among the list of businesses that will remain closed.

In other changes weddings will be allowed to have 30 attendees, and places of worship will be allowed to hold services
