Number of Doncaster Covid hospital patients drops by half in a week

Bosses at Doncaster and Bassetlaw NHS Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust said its three hospitals were currently caring for 11 Covid-19 patients. Last week, the total was 22.
In its weekly update, a spokesman said: “At the time of writing, we are caring for 11 patients who have tested positive for COVID-19. This represents another decrease since last week, and signifies we are going in the right direction.

Hide Ad“The breakdown of this is nine at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, two at Bassetlaw Hospital and, for the third-week running, zero at Montagu Hospital. The age range is between 41 and 76.
"We wish everyone with us receiving treatment related to COVID-19 the very best in their ongoing recovery.
If you're out and about enjoying the easing of lockdown, please stay sensible and remember to observe hands, face and space, and the rules wherever you are. We have made up significant ground against COVID-19, let's keep it up as we move into the summer months.”
Earlier this week, Dr Rupert Suckling, the town’s director of public health, has urged people to keep following the rules after the town’s coronavirus infection rates were revealed to be among some of the highest in the country.

Hide AdWhile numbers are dropping, Dr Suckling urged people to ‘redouble their efforts’ in a bid to drive down rates even further in Doncaster.
Since the start of the pandemic, there have been nearly 900 Covid deaths in the town.
