Nearly half of people in Doncaster fully vaccinated against Covid-19

NHS data shows 119,428 people had received both jabs by May 30 – 47 per cent of those aged 16 and over, based on the latest population estimates from the Office for National Statistics.

Of those to have received both jabs, 113,374 were aged 30 and over – 56 per cent of the age group.

It means 6,054 people aged between 16 to 29 have received both doses.

Across England, almost half of people aged 16 and over have received their second vaccine dose.

The NHS vaccine data also reveals variation in coverage for residents who had received at least one dose between different areas across Doncaster

Across Doncaster, 76 per cent of those aged 16 and over have had one jab.

Areas with the highest coverage:

1) Old Cantley, Auckley and Finningley, with 90.3 per cent of people aged 16 and over given their first dose

2) Bessacarr Grange and Lakeside, 89.6 per cent

3) Tickhill and Wadworth, 88.6 per cent

Areas with the lowest coverage:

1) Central Doncaster and Hyde Park, 45.4 per cent

2) Hexthorpe and Balby North, 58.2 per cent

3) Balby Carr, 61.6 per cent

Despite the success of the rollout, some staff at care homes in Doncaster have not been vaccinated.

The figures show 1,963 out of 2,204 eligible staff at older adult care homes had received a first dose by May 30 – meaning 11 per cent have not had a jab.

The Government is currently in consultation over plans to make the jab mandatory for staff over concerns for residents.
