Sarah, of Darfield, gained a triple distinction* in her Level 3 BTEC extended diploma in health and social care at Barnsley Academy and will study for a BA Hons degree in Education, Culture and Childhood at the University from September, with plans to follow up later with a Post Graduate Certificate in Education, to allow her to become a primary school teacher in the future.

But first the 17 year-old will visit a yet-to-be confirmed university in South East Asia for the summer, after beating off scores of applicants to gain one of 30 sought-after places on the university’s prestigious Global Scholarship Scheme.
